Julia is an associate in our Real Estate and Wills and Probate Department. She advises on succession matters in Hong Kong and has experience in will drafting, handling local and overseas grant applications, and administration and distribution of estates with multi-jurisdictional elements. She frequently coordinates with counsels based in other jurisdictions, including Bermuda, BVI, Japan, the People’s Republic of China and the United States in relation to estate involving foreign elements. She also acts for executors/administrators and beneficiaries in Caveat and other probate-related proceedings.
Julia handles various property-related matters, including conveyancing, mortgages and preparation of deed of family arrangement. She also has experience in acting for landlord in distrain actions.
Julia also advises private clients on the preparation of enduring powers of attorney pursuant to the Enduring Powers of Attorney Ordinance (Cap. 501) and represents clients in applications under Part II of the Mental Health Ordinance (Cap. 136).
During her traineeship, she assisted in a landmark appeal where the Court of Appeal laid down important judgment regarding the effect of arbitration agreement on insolvency proceedings.

- Acting for the executors in an estate where the deceased was a successful entrepreneur with substantial assets in Hong Kong and Bermuda, which involves applying for a grant of Probate in Hong Kong and facilitating the application for a grant of Probate in Bermuda in respect of the deceased’s Bermuda company shares.
- Acting for a Japanese administrator in applying for a grant of Letters of Administration in respect of a Hong Kong domiciliary estate where the deceased died intestate in Vietnam.
- Acting for a residuary beneficiary in Caveat proceedings and propounding a handwritten Will of the deceased.
- Assisting in the firm’s Urban Renewal Authority project which involves acquisition of several hundreds of units across multiple buildings located at To Kwa Wan and Sham Shui Po, and dealing with the sitting tenants and licensees.
- Acting for the family members of a mentally incapacitated high-net-worth individual in their application under Part II of the Mental Health Ordinance (Cap. 136), seeking reliefs relating to commencement of legal proceedings and sale of landed properties.
