On 4 August 2018 (Sat), a group of 20 W. K. To & Co. volunteers went to serve the Po Leung Kuk Yue Yiu Sun Memorial Workshop, which was a vocational organization for providing training opportunities for intellectually disabled adults through its diversified businesses like recycling, sales services, bouquets express and handicraft manufacture.
We were warmly received by staff and friends in the workshop and given a thorough introduction about the workshop’s history, mission statement, facilities and daily work procedures. The volunteers were divided into groups and led by the workshop’s friends on how to hand make their own leather pouch, our instructors showed a great deal of patience in giving us instructions on how to stitch together the pouch, in particular some of us were not too skillful in making this handicraft. The workshop was followed by a terrific dance performance and a casual lunch, which we could mingle and take a good look of our masterpieces together!
Our team was so privileged to support Po Leung Kuk Yue Yiu Sun Memorial Workshop by enhancing the service users’ confidence, this was such an amazing and fulfilling experience for us too. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteers for their support and contribution to this meaningful and memorable event.
W. K. To & Co. has been collaborating with Po Leung Kuk, one of the largest local charitable organizations, for a series of CSR initiatives in the past three years. We treasure the opportunities serving various PLK beneficiaries and have long recognized the importance of giving back to the local community.
